shattered clocks
shattered clocks…
in a dark room she sets a projector on the edge of a window sill…
points the light down on to the concrete floor…
places a black fishing net over the white light...
a meshed circle of light within a dark space becomes clear…
she lays her body within the circle…
her legs and arms becoming the hands of time…
in a circle of light she positions her body to create the face of the clock…
slow movements begin as she listens to the sound of life ticking…
her back arches as her hand reaches to touch midnight…
her knees curled into her core…
she extends her frame as her toes curl toward tomorrow…
within the circle of light her body pushes the sound of life moving…
twisting and turning…her hair tangled in the netting…
the projector light flickering…
seconds…minutes…hours escaping into the darkness of the room…
her body turning to its stomach…her hands grabbing the edges of the fabric…
pushing it under her body to try and
capture the shadow of time…
to contain it…
to restrain it from escaping the room…
the ticking sound now pounding…
time unable to be stilled…
